CyberTex Institute of Technology (CIT) was founded by Iqbal Sheikh, the President and Chief Executive Officer of CIT, and his vision for founding the company was to provide alternative career training to the vast majority of the general public.  Mr. Sheikh has a diversified career in economic, technical and journalism fields which encompasses over 40 years in Pakistan and USA.  He has served with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Pakistan.  Through this opportunity, Mr. Sheikh was able to study the latest trends in International Trade as well as current and future trends in Industry and Technology.

CIT is owned by CyberTex, Incorporated, in Texas and first started operations in November 1999 at 5555 North Lamar Boulevard located in Austin, Texas.  CIT initially focused on Corporate Training and was the Dell™ preferred vendor.  Then in early 2001, CIT opened its doors to the general public.  The first students were in attendance in June of that same year and the first class graduated in August 2001.

In April 2008, CIT expanded its operations and opened a Branch Campus in Killeen, Texas.  Students first attended classes at the Killeen location in May 2008 and the first graduation date was in July 2008.  In 2009, Diversity Business.com awarded CIT among the Top 500 Emerging Business of USA.  Also in 2009, the reputed Austin Business Journal selected CIT as one of the “Top 50 Businesses in Texas”.    As published in The Austin Business Journal in 2011, CIT was ranked #6 of 13 Career and Tech Schools.  In 2012, INC.5000 recognized CIT as one of America’s Fastest Growing Private Companies.

Currently, CIT is fully licensed by the Texas Workforce Commission, accredited by the Council on Occupational Education (COE), approved by the Department of Education, and approved for Title IV Funding.  CIT offers both short-term and long-term programs within Information Technology (IT), medical and healthcare fields.  With an eye to the future, CIT is planning to add more courses and programs to provide students and graduates with multiple options for high-demand career pathways.
