TUITION ASSISTANCE:

Meeting the cost of college isn’t always easy, but there is always aid available. Apply through the CTE admissions process today to find out what you are eligible for. All tuition assistance is dispensed by the financial aid office in accordance with Texas State and Federal Regulations as well as our equal education opportunity policy. We have trained student financial planning officers to help students apply for and combine various grants and loans to best suit their scholastic needs.

FEDERAL FINANCIAL AID:

Federal grants are an ideal source for tuition assistance because they are guaranteed by the federal government and remain quite stable in terms of allocating amounts and availability for multiple year use. Different from a loan, grants don’t need to be repaid and eligibility relies on FAFSA.

  • Federal Pell Grants
    • Offered to students in need of tuition assistance and fluctuate from around $602 to 5,500 for a full-time student. This is the most common federal grant available to undergraduates. The funding a student receives through this specific grant is based on the individual’s FAFSA test results.
  • Academic Competitiveness Grant
    • Student’s receiving a Pell Grant could also be qualified for the ACG or Academic Competitiveness Grant, which offers up to $750 to freshman students and $1,300 for sophomores. To be entitled to this grant students must have a minimum 3.0 GPA as well as completion of a diligent secondary school program of studies such as honors, AB or IB courses. This grant is what is considered need and merit-based.
  • National Science and Mathematics Access to Retain Talent Grant
    • The SMART grant is awarded to third, fourth, and fifth-year Pell grant receiving undergrads majoring in technical fields, critical foreign languages, or who are in a qualifying liberal arts program. To keep the grant students must be enrolled in a full-time degree program and maintain a minimum 3.0 for all classes funded by the SMART grant.
  • Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education Grant Program
    • This Grant was developed in 2007 to produce tuition assistance for students devoted to working as educators in low income or high need fields of study. Students that qualify for the TEACH grant can receive up to 4,000 a year. If a student is awarded the TEACH grant and then decides not to continue in the field of study the grant will turn into a Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loan. A high need field is any foreign language, bilingual education, English language acquisition, special education, reading specialist, mathematics, or science major.
