This course of instruction prepares individuals for entry-level jobs as a medical administrative assistant. Students will learn the basics of how to handle the clerical, administrative and business portion of a medical office. Students will learn basics of appointment setting, medical records filing, as well as introduction to billing and coding, medical terminology and human resources.
Graduates are prepared to work in a physician’s office, dentist’s office, hospital business office, health maintenance organization (HMO), or insurance company.
At the end of the course students will be eligible to take the National Health Career Certification exam for Certified Medical Administrative Assistant or a Certified Billing and Coding Specialist.
