Interested in becoming a trade professional? If so, CyberTex offers HVACR classes that can get you an entry-level job or apprenticeship in the HVACR industry. This job allows you to work outside of an office and with a little experience, you can start your own business. To help you decide whether you want to become an HVACR professional, this blog will review what HVACR classes are and how to become a trade professional at CyberTex.
What Does HVACR Stand For?
HVACR stands for heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration. HVACR systems control temperature, ventilation, air quality, and humidity in homes and businesses. HVACR technicians install and maintain equipment. They work with everything from heaters and air conditioners to commercial refrigeration units.
What are HVACR Classes?
HVACR classes teach the skills needed to work on heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems. These classes include hands-on training and classroom theory. During these HVACR classes, you will complete hundreds of training hours to prepare you to become an HVACR professional.
What Do You Learn During HVACR Classes?
CyberTex’s HVACR program offers the classes that will prepare you to become a licensed HVACR professional. These HVACR classes include:
Class #1: Basic Refrigeration
In this class, you will learn how refrigeration works by studying the basic principles of heat transfer and the refrigeration cycle. You will use industry-standard HVAC equipment to understand pressure-temperature relationships, phase changes, and system components like compressors and evaporators.
Class #2: Electricity for HVAC
This class covers the electrical foundation needed to work on HVAC systems. You will study theory including voltage, current, resistance, and Ohm’s Law. The class includes hands-on practice with wiring, using multimeters, reading schematics, and troubleshooting electrical components like contactors, capacitors, and relays.
Class #3: Heating Systems
This class focuses on gas furnaces, electric heaters, and heat pumps. You will learn how to inspect, install, and repair heating units used in homes and small buildings. This class also covers safety checks, flame sensors, pilot lights, and thermostat control.
Class #4: Air Conditioning Systems
This class teaches you how to diagnose and repair central air systems, split systems, and window units. You will work on HVACR systems in a lab setting to learn how to measure refrigerant pressure, test components, replace filters, and restore airflow and cooling.
Class #5: EPA Certification Prep
This class prepares you for the EPA Section 608 Certification, which is required to handle and recycle refrigerants. The class covers federal laws, environmental safety, refrigerant types, leak detection, and recovery procedures.
Class #6: Refrigerant Recovery and Charging
In this class, you will learn how to recover, recycle, and charge refrigerants using recovery machines and gauges. The course stresses safety, proper procedures, and following EPA standards when handling and recycling refrigerants.
Class #7: Air Distribution Systems
This class teaches you how air moves through ductwork. You will study static pressure, airflow measurement, duct design, and balancing systems to make sure heating and cooling reaches all parts of a building evenly.
Class #8: Troubleshooting and Diagnostics
This class develops hands-on problem-solving skills, using gauges, meters, and charts to find and fix common problems like low refrigerant, faulty thermostats, or blocked airflow.
Class #9: Professional Development and Job Readiness
This class focuses on soft skills and workplace preparation. You will learn how to build a strong resume, practice job interview skills, and communicate clearly with clients and coworkers.
