How Do You Pay for Trade School?

There are many options for you to pay for trade school. Here are the most common:

Financial Aid (For Those That Qualify)

Our financial aid staff will help you fill out the FAFSA form, which is used to determine financial need. You may be eligible for grants, scholarships, or loans based on your FAFSA form.

Federal Pell Grant – Students with financial need may qualify for the Federal Pell Grant. You are not responsible for paying back this grant. You can use this grant to pay for tuition, books, and other school costs. The Amount depends on your and your parents’ income, cost of attendance, and enrollment status.

Federal Work-Study Program – The federal work-study program is available for students with financial need. They earn money for trade school through part-time jobs, usually performed on campus. To use the funds, your work must be related to your course or benefit the community.

Federal Direct Subsidized & Unsubsidized Loan – Subsidized loans are available for undergraduate students with financial need, while most students may apply for an unsubsidized loan. This loan needs to be repaid after graduation.

Parent PLUS Loan – Parents of dependent students who need money to pay for trade school may apply for the Parent PLUS loan. It is important to note that a credit check is required and that it is the parents that borrow the money.
