What Do I Learn in a Network Engineer Program?

CyberTex’s Network Engineer training program equips you to enter the field of information technology and networking. An emphasis on practical experience with hands-on IT training prepares you for network routing and switching, network security, cybersecurity, and cloud computing and administration. Cybertex is a CompTIA-authorized academy that offers IT training for 10+ certifications in the Network Engineer program, including Microsoft Azure, AWS, and other CompTIA and Microsoft certifications. The certifications provided in the Network Engineer program include:

CompTIA Certifications

The Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA) is a vendor-neutral IT certification provider. The program prepares you for the basic CompTIA A+ certification, which is a prerequisite for the specialized CompTIA certifications, including Network+, Security+, Server+, and Linux+.

CompTIA A+ – builds upon the IT Fundamentals certification exam. As a student of the Network Engineer program, you will start with the A+ certification. This certification touches upon the overarching elements of computing.

CompTIA Network+ – focuses on networking and offers an introduction to cybersecurity. It proves your proficiency in essential network maintenance, design, and expansion. Plus, it reviews your knowledge of security measures needed to harden and monitor networks. It delves deeper into network hardware, virtualization, and security subjects.

CompTIA Security+ – a foundational certficiation that segways into the CySA+ certification. It builds upon the security knowledge tested in the A+ and Network+ certification exams. The exam reviews your understanding of hybrid environments, the Internet of Things, cloud systems, and real-time network monitoring to analyze and neutralize threats.

CompTIA Server+ – a review of securely installing, deploying, managing, and troubleshooting servers. You will prove your proficiency in physical server hardware installation and management, server administration, security and disaster recovery, and troubleshooting system hardware, software, connectivity, storage, and security issues.

CompTIA Linux+ – emphasizes the open-source operating system and reviews your knowledge of Linux kernel modules, shell scripting, automation, and the use of git for code management.

Microsoft 365 Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate

This Microsoft 365 certification covers many of Microsoft’s enterprise-level products, emphasizing Microsoft Windows. A modern desktop administrator associate must prove their proficiency in deploying, configuring, securing, managing, and monitoring the Windows application.

AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner (CLF-CO2)

The Amazon Web Services (AWS) certified cloud practitioner exam reviews cloud computing. This certification validates your foundational knowledge of AWS Cloud, services, and terminology. Some of the tasks that will validate your abilities include explaining:

  • The Value of AWS Cloud
  • AWS Shared Responsibility Model
  • Security Best Practices
  • AWS Costs, Economics, and Billing Practices
  • Core AWS Services

Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals

This certification exam demonstrates your knowledge of cloud concepts, core Azure services, and management and governance features and tools. You will be tested on your computing, networking, and storage of Azure architectural components. You must also describe the features and tools that secure, govern, and administrate Azure.

What is Included in the New Cybersecurity Module?

In addition to the 10+ IT certifications in networking, you will prepare for certification in cybersecurity. The cybersecurity certification that this program will prepare you for is the CompTIA Cybersecurity Analyst (CySA+) certification.

What is the CompTIA CySA+ Certification?

The CompTIA CySA+ certification is a vendor-neutral credential that tests you on your intermediate-level skills and knowledge of cybersecurity. You will prove your security analytics, intrusion detection, and response proficiency. The CySA+ certification is intended to follow the Security+ certification. Those who pass the certification will be able to:

  • Identify tools and techniques to audit a target network
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret security data
  • Use network host and web application vulnerability assessment tools
  • Understand and remediate identity management, authentication, and access control issues
  • Successfully participate in a senior role on an incident response team
  • Use forensic tools to identify cybersecurity attacks and their sources
  • Understand the use of frameworks, policies, and procedures in security architecture
