Course #1: Safety and Shop Practices
The HVAC program at CyberTex focuses on proper safety, shop practices, and procedures. Our instructors teach you how to be safe on the job and what gear to wear. Plus, working with HVAC equipment requires safety protocols. You will learn how to maintain and repair an HVAC system and how to keep everyone safe. With the help of hands-on training, you’ll work with different types of HVAC systems and equipment to perfect your technique to stay safe on the job.
Course #2: Basic Refrigeration
During the basic refrigeration course, you will learn about the fundamentals and theory behind refrigeration. You will learn what refrigeration is and how it works to keep food and medication fresh from spoiling. The curriculum focuses on both residential and commercial, including restaurant walk-in refrigerators and distribution warehouses that must stay at a required temperature. You’ll learn the fundamental principles behind refrigeration, which will help you when you install, repair, and maintain refrigeration systems.
Course #3: Basic Electricity
During the basic electricity course, you will learn the theories behind AC and DC and other fundamental principles of electricity. As an HVAC technician, it is imperative that you understand how electricity works and how to stay safe when repairing HVAC systems. You’ll also learn the fundamentals of electrical science, how electricity affects HVAC systems, and how to work with electrical components safely.
Course #4: Brazing, Soldering, and Piping
You will learn about brazing, soldering, and piping during this course. This includes metal-joining techniques for repairs or installing new HVAC systems. You will also learn how to use each sheet metal manipulation technique and how to select and operate the right equipment for brazing, soldering, and piping.
Course #5: Sheet Metal Fabrication and Duct Systems
Sheet metal fabrication is required to create duct systems that move warm and cool air into residential and commercial spaces. During the HVAC program, you will learn the manufacturing process and how to cut, bend, braze, and attach sheet metal. Not only will you work with existing sheet metal, but you will also rely on the fabrication process to create new duct systems. Understanding how the fabrication of ducts works will help you make repairs, modifications, and upgrades to duct systems safely.
Course #6: Heating & Air Conditioning
During this course, we will teach you about HVAC systems and how they work. You will be trained to install, repair, and maintain HVAC systems, including furnaces, heat pumps, and air conditioners. To ensure you’re prepared to become an HVAC technician and take Section 608 certification, we will offer hundreds of hours of hands-on training working with heaters and air conditioners. By the end of the program, you will have mastered HVAC systems and have the confidence to take the Section 608 certification exam.
Course #7: Commercial HVAC & Refrigeration
Whether a retail store cooler or a warehouse HVAC system, you will learn how to install, maintain, and repair commercial HVAC and refrigeration systems.
